SUSTAINABILITY
The PGA Show continues to be committed to sustainability, as part of our parent company, RX Global’s pledge to be Net Zero Carbon by 2040. We are mindful of the environmental impact our shows can have which is why the PGA Show implements various initiatives aimed at reducing waste and lessening environmental impact.
Waste Diversion
Through key initiatives, 768 pounds of compost were collected:
- Diversion Stations: In partnership with O-Town Compost, five RX-branded stations helped attendees sort waste into landfill, recycle, and compost streams, with ambassadors providing guidance.
- Behind-the-Scenes Sorting: O-Town Compost managed waste in the central hub, diverting compostable materials like coffee grounds.
- Cooking Oil Recycling: Used cooking oil was recycled into biodiesel in partnership with Brownies Septic & Plumbing.
Donation Programs
- PGA Show Donation Drive: Partnering with Habitat for Humanity, we collected furnishings, clothing, shoes, and golf accessories for local charities via onsite booths.
- Food Donation Program: Sodexo provided HACCP-compliant surplus food to local charities, while non-donatable food was composted to ensure zero waste.
Sustainable Farming Practices
Through a collaboration with Farmplicity Gardens and the OCCC’s onsite Center-to-Table Gardens, we showcased sustainable farming practices using aeroponic grow towers, which supplied fresh produce for the PGA Café. Annually, this 2,000 sq. foot indoor Aeroponic farm produces over 50,000 fresh nutritious non-GMO lettuces, herbs, and edible flower that the OCCC chefs use to make farm-to-fork dishes for our guest.
Enhanced Attendee Experience
Walking Program: The “Walk for PGA” initiative promoted eco-friendly walking routes using five pedestrian bridges which are connected to four surrounding hotels, to reduce vehicle traffic and encourage healthy step counts.
